BARRY MANILOW LIVE  2 disc  1976

The classic double live album at the height of his early fame in the 1970s, Could It Be Magic/Mandy, I Write the Songs, Looks Like We Made It, It's A Miracle, Daybreak.

He was the second coming of Johnny Mathis, a cross between Mathis and Liberace, and this 1977 LP - following  Frampton Comes Alive (1976,) Bob Seger's Live Bullet (1976,) J Geils Band Blow Your Face Out (1976) - was the Middle of the Road following the hard rockers into the world of double discs.

It's an essential collection as it captures Manilow at a specific point in time and shows the necessity of splashing live performances across two discs (three would have been even more preferable.   Historically, in the era before compact discs, record labels didn't want to issue double vinyl. The costs were higher, more publishing to pay, more cardboard, more mother stampers, all the things that make vinyl more costly than compact disc.   Rock Journalist Joe Viglione, 8-22-16.

This particular copy has edgewear but the pictures and vinyl look in good shape with slight scratches visible when held up to the light.   Looks as if it wasn't played much, if at all. But it is open and thus, must be listed as used.

The re-release of this goes for 16.96 on eBay along, part of a 9 disc set

Disc 2  John McCormack  One Sided 10"

A Victrola Red Label released December 10, 1919, and one of the "Big Three" in label names. Long considered as some of the finest sound recordings, this single-sided record still plays great, with a decent gloss still showing. As clean as the label appears for a true-to-life audio! Faint playwear with only incidental scuffs and scratches. No chips, cracks, or skips.

Side 64630 presents this Irish tenor with Orchestra performance of, "That Tumble-Down Shack In Athlone", vocalized by John McCormack, best known for his ability as a concert performer and incomparable recitalist. Revered for his signature "closing pianissimi", a skill successfully achieved by few in the vocal world, only a few tenors have been unequivocally recognized for their lush vocal quality, elegant phrasing, outstanding diction, and remarkable breath support.

We will only ship these fragile records via priority mail!
